Assessing a fish population normally means pulling species records, survey data, catch reports, and ocean conditions from a dozen scattered databases, lining them up by hand, and feeding them into specialized modeling software. This platform automates that assembly step against real NOAA and public data sources, then runs a simple, honestly-labeled stock assessment directly — so results are visible today, without anyone needing to install specialist tools themselves.

The paper trail behind every number shown elsewhere on the site — draw new regions, trigger pipeline runs, and diff exactly what changed between any two of them.

How The Pipeline Works

Harvest

Pull species occurrence, survey, and catch records from OBIS, FishBase, GloBI, ERDDAP, MRIP, and Stock SMART for a region.

Assemble

Line up every source against a shared species manifest so it's obvious what data actually exists per species, per region.

Fit

Run a simplified stock assessment model (FIMS/WHAM, or a demo/citizen-science-proxy fit where real survey data is thin).

Publish

Surface results with their tier clearly labeled and full run reproducibility metadata attached.

This is a simplified, non-certified assessment platform, not a replacement for official NOAA stock assessments. Results are useful for exploration and transparency, but management decisions rely on the full peer-reviewed assessment process — not on anything shown here.
